Vocational rehabilitation is defined as a process that a disabled individual goes through in order to gain, maintain, or return to employment. Your individual needs will determine how many people you work with and what roles are needed to aid in your successful entry into the workplace. These needs will also determine the length and overall complexity of the process.
In order to Qualify for services there must be a referral from a community source. Such as waiver, LRS, Metropolitan Human Services, or Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority. In addition you must have a physical, emotional, mental, or learning disability that prevents you from being able to hold a job/obtain one on your own.
You need the help of vocational rehabilitation services in order to get, maintain, or return to a job.
You will benefit from having a job that vocational rehabilitation services will help you get and keep.
"Virage is an amazing organization that not only teaches my son career skills, but gives him the confidence and life skills that he uses everyday in the community. The Jackson family respects their clients' strengths and encourages them to be the best version of themselves."MR
"Since, Sam has been working with your program – he has become more confident, and looks forward to going to work.Sam learned to read some by sight and memory, but once he aged out of School, he didn't try to read or learn new words anymore. Since working with Virage he is now trying to pronounce street names that we pass often, because he has more confidence in his reading with the help of his job coach. He has now even turned on the closed-captioning on his TV. A trick my Niece (a School Teacher) had me try when he was younger, so he could associate the written word with the sound. Sam has started doing that again since working on the mobile crew, so that shows me, he really is trying to learn as much as he can. I am so grateful that I did speak with Neisha Jackson and enrolled him in the Virage Community Service program."Joyce Smith White
"It was such a pleasure to receive services from Virage for my daughter. It was a joy connecting with Mr and Mrs Jackson who were always kind and professional. As her Job Coach, Mr Jackson was patient and very diligent in his efforts to help my daughter find a job that suited her. He hung in there , even while waiting out the tough times with the COVID 19 pandemic. He made her feel confident in her own capabilities and found a job where she is blossoming and growing more independent. Thanks for a great experience!"Mrs. Lynelle Batiste
